2023 Dodge Dakota Is On the Way!. After years of stagnation, the segment of compact and mid-size pickup trucks is live again. Models like Tacoma and Gladiator aren’t the only players in the game anymore. Moreover, there is a couple of new names in the business that arrived last year. Of course, we are talking about the new Ranger and brand-new Gladiator. Dodge feels there is plenty of room for its famous nameplate. It looks like the new model could arrive already as the 2023 Dodge Dakota.
Dodge Dakota is a pretty familiar name in automotive history. The name has always been reserved for a small pickup truck, so we have no doubt this will be the case in the new model. At this point, we still don’t know a lot of details about it, but some of the characteristics are easy to predict. The new model could arrive by the end of the year.
2023 Dodge Dakota Engines
It’s not hard to predict some of the base engines when it comes to the engine lineup. A 3.6-liter unit seems like a safe bet. This engine is already available in the Gladiator and delivers around 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes in pairs with 8-speed automatic transmission.
Another option that seems quite possible is 2023 Dodge Dakota diesel. Diesel pickups are getting more popular these days, and many rivals already offer such models. Of course, the engine that comes to mind is a 3.0-liter turbodiesel, the same one that is about to debut in the Gladiator next summer. We count on the version that delivers around 240 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, which would provide both strong capabilities and great fuel economy.
Another possibility is to see some smaller, entry-level model, which would come with a smaller-output engine, probably with four cylinders. That would be a great fleet option, due to the affordable price.
2023 Dodge Dakota Design
There are two possibilities for the 2023 Dodge Dakota pickup when it comes to base design characteristics. The first option is to see a truck that is heavily based on the new Gladiator. The two models would share the platform and mechanics, which indicates the two models would be built in the same assembly in Ohio.
On the other side, there is also a chance to see new 2023 Dodge Dakota produced in the same factory as Ram, in Mexico. This scenario would mean a design that is heavily based on the new Ram 1500, on some kind of downsized platform, which shorter wheelbase and overall size.
No matter the scenario, we are about to see a genuine body-on-frame truck, designed in a traditional manner, which will compete with models like Tacoma, Ranger, Colorado etc.
2023 Dodge Dakota Styling
No matter the base design thins about aesthetics are pretty clear. It’s not hard to predict the overall styling, which should be heavily based on Ram’s latest design language. We count on the same face we can see on the new Ram 1500. This means a completely new front face, with a new grille that has finally abandoned the legendary crosshair grille.
On the other side, the overall shape should be pretty much the same as the one that characterizes Ram 1500, just in a smaller size, of course. Speaking of the size, we still don’t know details. Still, if you look at the average size in the class, we may expect around 130 inches in wheelbase.
Unlike the Gladiator, which comes in a double cab layout only, the 2023 Dodge Dakota would come in both double and single cab layout.
2023 Dodge Dakota Interior
It is still early for details when it comes to interior design. On the other side, we may presume some of the more basic characteristics. As we’ve just mentioned, the new 2023 Dodge Dakota will be available in two layouts, either as a double or single cab model. In any case, we count that the new interior design will take a lot of inspiration from the Ram 1500, which would definitely be a fantastic thing. This would mean hi-quality materials all around, as well as loads of latest tech goodies. We expect more details will come in the near future.
2023 Dodge Dakota Release Date and Price
We are still waiting for the official information, it looks like the new truck could come pretty soon, maybe already by the end of the year. When it comes to the 2023 Dodge Dakota price, base versions shouldn’t go more than 25.000 dollars. Key competitors will be models like Ford Ranger, Chevy Colorado, Toyota Tacoma etc
