2022 Dodge Durango SRT Redesign, Specs and Features. While many FCA fans were expecting a complete redesign of Grand Cherokee’s cousin, we found out months ago that the current generation will remain in production for some more time. We will have to wait for a couple of more years to see that rumored BoF Durango. Meanwhile, the company will try to make this model fresh, so a nice update is coming for the next year. We are about to see a facelift, which will affect all models. WE also expect to see changes that will be reserved for certain versions, particularly for the 2022 Dodge Durango SRT, which is about to come with a Hellcat engine in the offer.
This won’t be the only powertrain update for the next year, as the new eTorque mild hybrid system is expected to be offered. The 2022 Dodge Durango SRT is expected to hit the market sometime late in the year.
2022 Dodge Durango SRT Design
The upcoming update will certainly bring some interesting novelties when it comes to base design characteristics. As you can see on the test model, the focus is on the front end, which is the only camouflaged area. Therefore, we expect to see novelties in terms of new headlights, grille, bumper etc. Those are general updates, but the 2022 Dodge Durango SRT will also continue with various exclusive details. Of course, this includes things like a more aggressive bumper, different grille and more. Naturally, there are new wheels, lower-profile tires etc. The new Hellcat version should accentuate these parts even more.
Naturally, these models will carry on with all those mechanical upgrades. As you probably know, this hi-performance version comes with a special suspension setup, which includes things like hi-performance dampers. Of course, you may also count on performance Brembo brakes, while the AWD layout is standard.
2022 Dodge Durango SRT and SRT Hellcat
Far, the SRT version of this crossover has been available in just one variant, with a good-old 6.4-liter V8 engine. This is a pretty capable engine, which puts out 475 horsepower, which provide impressive performances. This version needs just around 4.4 seconds to hit 60 mph. With the new engine options, things will become even more impressive. Of course, we are talking about the famous Hellcat engine, the same one that powers Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.
We are talking about a max output of astonishing 707 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque, which should be enough to move this heavy and large SUV from zero to 60 in just 3.5 seconds. Of course, we count on a couple of more upgrades that usually come with this engine, such as the Quadra-Trac Active On-Demand four-wheel-drive system, the Selec-Trac traction management system.
This model isn’t just fast, but also capable. When properly equipped, this version can tow up to 8.700 pounds, which is a really impressive number for the class.
Interior
It is still unclear whether the upcoming update is about to bring novelties on the inside or not. At this point, we can only tell that the 2022 Dodge Durango SRT will carry on with its exclusive details, such as Nappa leather, ventilated seats and similar things. Of course, the new Hellcat model should accentuate its hi-performance nature eve more, though we can’t talk about details at this point.
As a hi-grade trim level, it will also come with a full load of tech goodies. The current model comes standard with things like an 8.4-inch touchscreen, nine-speaker Alpine stereo, or a 19-speaker Harman Kardon stereo, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system, satellite radio, remote start etc.
Safety Features When it comes to safety features this model already comes with a full load of standard safety features. Some of the highlights are things like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist. Therefore, we don’t expect bigger changes for the next year.
2022 Dodge Durango SRT Release Date and Price
When it comes to the 2022 Dodge Durango SRT release date, we expect that the updated model will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year. The standard SRT model current starts around 63.000 dollars and we don’t expect to see significant changes. On the other side, the new Hellcat model will certainly go over 80.000 dollars.
